What is Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLPs), which are often referred to as speech therapists. Speech therapy techniques are used to improve communication. These include articulation therapy, language intervention activities, and others depending on the type of speech or disorder. Speech therapy may be needed for speech disorders that develop in childhood or speech impairments in adults caused by an injury or illness, such as stroke or brain injury

What is Audiology

Audiology is a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and related disorders. Audiologists treat those with hearing loss and proactively prevent related damage. By employing various testing strategies, audiologists aim to determine whether someone has normal sensitivity to sounds

INTRODUCTION

Occupational Therapy (OT) can be described as the art and science of challenging an individual's effort in specially selected activities that have been designed to restore and enhance his performance.

DEFINITION OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy based on engagement in meaningful activities of daily life (such as self-care skills, education, work, or social interaction) specially to enable or encourage participation in such activities despite impairments or limitations in physical or mental functioning

Department of Physio Therapy

Role of physiotherapy in Rehabilitation of children with special needs.

Definition of physiotherapy: Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with helping to restore wellness to people following injury, pain or disability. Assess diagnose and treat injury and conditions that affect people in all ages and social group.

Goal of physiotherapy: The goal of physiotherapist is to promote-

  • Patient's ability to move
  • Reduce pain
  • Restore function
  • Prevent disability

Role of Physiotherapy:

  • The role of physiotherapist is to help children who have difficulty with functional movement, poor balance and challenges moving through their environment.
  • Some children have low muscle tone, some have poor balance others may not be well coordinated and others may have combination of all of the above.
  • After assessment the physiotherapist will design and implement a program that will help to improve the individual child�s areas of needs and increase overall function.
